While serving in the Navy for twenty years, sailors were taught to write short sentences. The chain of command majority did not have writing skills. They wanted the quick and easy way of doing things. I started taking college courses and saw that writing skills are necessary in order to complete in the civilian world. My first professor told me to take a writing class if I wanted graduate from college someday.
